Senator Francis Joseph “Chiz ” Guevarra Escudero has a clear vision for the country and knows that the only way to make this vision into a reality is by engaging every Filipino – young and old, rich and poor – to take part in charting the nation's destiny.

Born in Manila on October 10, 1969 to a middle class family from Sorsogon and Bulacan, Escudero was educated entirely in the public school system of the University of the Philippines from elementary to law school.

After passing the Philippine Bar in 1994, he took a Masters degree in Internation al and Comparative Law at the Georgetown University in 1996 on a full scholarship .

His strong work ethics, values, faith and sense of responsibil ity come from his upbringing by his parents who are both educators.< br />
Candid, eloquent and charming, Escudero has certainly made a name for himself in the world of politics.

A lawyer by profession, Escudero first entered the realm of politics in 1998 when he was elected as representat ive of the 1st District of Sorsogon. This marked the start of what many describe as Escudero&rs quo;s meteoric rise to the nation's consciousne ss as a leader.

After serving three full terms at the House of Representat ives, Escudero was elected to the Philippine Senate in 2007 earning the second highest number of votes.

Escudero intensely inspires the young to become principled individuals and steadfast in facing the challenges. And through his eloquence, this young leader epitomizes the potential of the Filipino youth as active agents of change in society.

A noted advocate of education and transparent governance, Escudero willingly obliges and openly takes the cudgels for the opposition for which he provides a strong, credible, and authoritati ve voice.

One of the youngest officials elected to the Senate, Escudero presently heads the Senate Committees on Justice and Human Rights; Constitutio nal Amendments, Revision of Codes and Laws; and Banks, Financial Institution s and Currencies.

Today, Escudero continues to enjoy the people's vote of confidence validated by results of independent surveys which consistentl y rank the young achiever as the most trusted official of the land with one of the highest approval ratings.
